About

After graduating from the University of Essen, Juergen Vogt worked as a teacher and completed his doctorate in Music Education with a thesis on the philosophical foundations of Music Education in Rudolf-Steiner-Pedagogy ("summa cum laude") in 1991. His doctoral study study was supported by a grant of the University of Essen. In 1992 he joined the University of Hamburg as Assistant Professor at the Department of Education. He finished his Habilitation ("follow-up thesis") in 2001 on "Music Education and the phenomenological concept of 'life-world'", supported by a grant of the "Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft" (DFG). From 2000 to 2003 he worked as a guest professor at the universities of Muenster and Cologne. Since 2003 he has been Professor for General and Music Education at the University of Hamburg. In 2002 he was Visiting Scholar at the University of Indiana, Bloomington.
